This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of
Nishijin Textile Industry Association. In this milestone year, to
further build on the momentum created by last year's “555th
Anniversary of the Nishijin Name Project*”, we will help more
people learn about the traditional techniques and beauty of
Nishijin textiles, while restoring vitality to the production area.
We will develop a wide range of initiatives with the aim of
contributing to the creation of sustainable production areas for
the future, regional cooperation, and raising the level of the
local economy. ※A commemorative project marking the 555th anniversary of
the Onin War (1467), which is said to be the origin of the
name “Nishijin”.
